Question 1

Answer: C

B and D are quite simple to strike off. Option E is tempting but options A and C both carry too much possibility so we can remove it too. The thing to notice here is that even though paragraph/opinion C did not concern the "successful/not successful person's" subjective view, it did concern the subjective view of other people! So all three have subjective components, even if the subjective view is not always from the same person according to each viewpoint.

Question 2

Answer: B

They are all inherently money-driven. Even option C is probably money-driven to at least a fair extent. However, the key word in the question is "could" - so we need to make quite a stretched interpretation and power is not, ipso facto, about money.

Question 3

Answer: D

Do not look at the first sentence within the nuanced context of each passage. Think of each passage as a one word argument (e.g. "money", "family", "power", "jealousy") and see which fits best. Here it is C and D – easy!

Question 4

Answer: A

While B and D contain much more nuanced arguments, A is much more strongly about 'money' and C is the furthest away from that (Q2 here may have helped you). This was a bit of a strange text, but you will see a good number like this so it is worth having had a go at a few of them!
