An explanation of this text can also be found in the Introductory Lecture for our Mastering the LNAT course below. The explanation of "Flat Earthers" begins at 7:18:
Question 1
Answer: E
Despite the title and main topic being about the 'Flat Earthers' they do not actually feature in the main argument, they are a mere example (albeit the only example). Rather, they argue about trust of authority so it comes down to B and E. The reason we can reject B is because the author makes an argument that applies beyond just Flat Earthers and should apply to all views and opinions.
Question 2
Answer: C
This is a particularly tricky one. It comes down to B and C but, as B is technically not something we can outright reject (the author claims that we should keep an open mind too!).
Question 3
Answer: C
Option C is the only accurate option. Option A holds some minor possibility but is still wrong, and the other three are clearly inaccurate. Some people may have got mixed up with 'former' and 'latter' and picked a wrong answer as a result of that (always read the question very carefully!)
Question 4
Answer: D
This is a time consuming comprehension question but worth practising. It comes down to A or D. To answer this, you really needed to understand the tone of the text, it is written in an almost conversational manner, so the "Right..." needed to be read in the tone it was intended (probably said quite slowly with eyebrows raised)
